Installation

The idea of sprinkler system installation can seem daunting and invasive at first

The reality of it is that the process is quite simple and very similar to how central heating is installed, but with far less pipework, and far less disruption with installation usually being completed within two main stages.

1st Fix Stage

This stage involves the distribution of sprinkler pipework and the installation of sprinkler heads in accordance with the approved design drawings. This is followed by a pressure test to ensure the system is sound and secure. Sprinkler heads are then left with temporary protective caps in place to protect them during the continuing build process.

2nd Fix Stage

This phase occurs near the completion of the construction process, subsequent to the installation of ceilings, the finalisation of decorative works, and the establishment of water supply systems. During this stage, protective caps from the sprinkler heads are removed and substituted with decorative cover plates. The critical concluding tasks involve establishing connections to the water source and conducting commissioning tests.

What happens after installation?

Upon completion, a certificate of compliance is issued that confirms the system has been installed by an approved contractor using the appropriate design and installation standards. Certification is also accompanied by an Operation and Maintenance Manual that will assist the client with ongoing fire protection maintenance of the building.
