The design of a sprinkler system entails an intricate level of detail essential for effective fire protection. Whether applied in residential or domestic settings, the strategic placement of sprinkler heads is critical to ensure optimal coverage for the designated area. Additionally, the aesthetic considerations of the existing or planned architecture must be respected during installation.
Furthermore, the associated pipework requires careful design and construction, aimed at achieving both cost efficiency and favourable hydraulic performance throughout the building.
Initiation of the Design Process
The design phase typically commences with a request for the most recent site floor and sectional plans in DWG format, ensuring that the designs maintain absolute accuracy and reliability. Subsequently, our design engineers undertake the critical responsibility of strategically positioning heads, wherever feasible, in alignment with specific ceiling fixtures. They will also integrate the corresponding pipework into the plans, all while strictly adhering to the pertinent design and specification standards.
Hydraulic Calculations
Full Hydraulic Calculations are then performed on the system using Canute software to calculate the flow and pressure required for the sprinkler system to operate effectively. From here system balancing usually takes place which consists of alterations to the diameter of pipework and overall routes to help minimise the pressure and flow demand.
Design Review
Initial designs are then subject to a thorough design review from a second designer ensuring there is consistency in the design approach and overall aesthetics, thus resulting in the highest level of service to our clients.
Submission
When the design meets all the relevant criteria, the client receives the design drawings for approval. Upon approval, drawings are then issued to our team of installation engineers in preparation for first fix installation.
